The legacy

Around Aberdeen, Washington there are still places where thousands of fans have visited to remember Kurt. Throughout his life Kurt Cobain lived jumping from home to home, and even under a bridge. Here i have collected an assortment of photo's of these places and memorials for Kurt. Since there is no grave stone for Kurt, these few places have been made into his memorial sites. Many have come to pay thier last respects to a legend, and most of the sites have layers upon layers of fan art and last words. Hopefully you too will have a chance to visit Kurt's town and fan-made memorials....
Kurt Cobain's first home in Aberdeen, washington. Located at 1210 East First Street. Six monthes after he was born his parents moved here from Hoquiam, Washington.
Through his parents divorce, Kurt was shuttled from friends houses to family's houses back and forth. He was kicked out by his mother often and Kurt would then sleep here.
Covered in Kurts name this bridge is practically his. This is the Young street bridge in Aberdeen and if you havent realized it yet Kurt sang about this bridge in his song "underneath the bridge"
This is the Wishkah River, ir runs underneath the Young Street Bridge where Kurt slept some nights. After he died Courtney had him cremated and some of his ashes were spread across this river.
This is the last home of Kurt Cobain, 171 Lake Washington blvd. east. Courtney and him purchased the house in january 1994. Kurts body was found inside above the garage, after his death Courtney wasted little time in having the garage (*cough cough* evidence!) destroyed.
There are many photos circulated around the Kurt cobain bench, this is the best photo I've found thats very meaningful to me. This is located in Virretta park, minutes from Kurts last home at 171 lake washington blvd. Kurt was able to look down upon this area when in his home. I hope to this day he still watches over the area and knows how all of us care so much about what happened to him, and that someday there WILL be justice served.
This is Kurts star, it is located in downtown Aberdeen. It is part of Aberdeen's "walk of fame"

Now when you enter Aberdeen, Washington a personalized sign welcomes you (as of april 5th 2005) The town now finally embraces the legacy of thier grunge icon, and welcomes you to "come as you are". The sign was created by the help of fans donations to the Nonprofit Kurt Cobain memorial Commitee. The Commitee also has plans to buy two peices of land in Aberdeen, one for a park just for Kurt, and a youth community center. The park will feature a giant wall where fans will be legally allowed to graffiti thier memorial to Kurt. To read more on the Commitee, the sign, and youth center visit the articles page for a full copy of the article.
